Usually, when I think about food...I don't think about using it for a stuffy nose, dandruff stopper, carpet cleaner, or bug repellent...However, I think I've been converted.
Because the next time that we run out of "Butt-Paste" for Jay...I'm just going to the pantry!!!!
Check this out...23 interesting uses for food.

WE ARE HERE!!!
It was about a year and a half ago that I was reading "Horton Hears a Who" to Mrs. Brittain's Class during Read Across America week...which also coincided with Dr. Seuss' Birthday.
Well, in the Suess-i-an spirit, I thought I would let you know about something fun that goes along with the new Horton Movie--Here's what I read today:
Fox is challenging communities across the USA to raise their voices and proclaim "We Are Here!" -- just as Who-ville's Whos do in Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! Why? It's a contest tied in to the studio's upcoming movie, and the cities registering the top decibel readings on special sound meters will vie for a sneak screening. The film, with star voices including Jim Carrey, Steve Carell and Carol Burnett, opens nationwide March 14, but the winning city in the "Horton Hears You Hometown Challenge" will get a sneak peek March 13.
For the registration form and details, go to www.hortonmovie.com/hometownchallenge. (Each office of the mayor, or designated official, must confirm a community's participation.)
(Source: USA Today)
So let's get the Mayor on the line (Excuse Me, Dr. Roe,) and go for it!!! The Tri-Cities can get LOUD!!! Bristol should get all 160,000 NASCAR fans to say it. HA!

Tender Tennessee Snow
My, oh, my! It actually feels like February today! I got excited when I received a text from my wife, Meredith, this morning that said nothing more than, "SNOW!"
So, I looked outside the window...pretty much nothing...BUT as of 3pm, we are getting some snow. Although, just like any snow that we get in East TN, it doesn't really stick (despite it being below freezing...it's 27 or something.) At least it's pretty as it comes down...and that snow smell gets in the air. Love that!
Just gotta watch out for icing roads tonight. That's always the fun part of getting snow and winter weather in the South. No matter how many times it's happened, no one is really used to it, so the roads get really crazy...the schools close...and the store shelves are empty, too. Glad I don't have to run to there for anything tonight-- all the milk, eggs, and bread will be gone. HA!
If you have winter weather, I hope it brightens your day!

He Did it!
Our son, Jay, turned 7 months today, and he decided that he was going to crawl!!!
For several weeks, he has been getting up on his knees, and rocking back and forth. He would get frustrated, because he wasn't going any where. He even loves to pull up on things and stand. We figured he might skip crawling altogether, and just start walking.
Jay proved us wrong today. Meredith and Jay come to visit the WCQR studios, and while they were in my office, our guy decided that he would crawl to get a heart-shaped stress reliever thingee.
We didn't have the video camera, but Daddy does have a video mode on his phone. So, without further ado, I give you my son crawling in an 11 second video!! Enjoy :)

I love coffee...

So, it's fitting that my first blog of the new year comes 1.5 months after the start of it, and that it is all about Coffee...
I was studying up on my favorite subject after talking with a good friend about some good coffee that is roasted in Marion, VA, and can be bought in Jonesborough. Don't know the name of the company, but the blend is called, "Aztec." Plus, I have been reading that Starbucks is going to be offering a $1 cup of coffee with free refills, AND that you might actually get free Wi-Fi there soon.
Anyway, so I went looking for Coffee images and found this interesting Neuroscience article on coffee. Now, if you know my wife, Meredith, you know that she has an incredible interest in Neuroscience, especially Cognitive Neuroscience and how the brain processes music. So, this seemed like the perfect article to read.
Here is the Headline:
Science Vault: Coffee As Treatment For the Plague
Wow. What if it had worked?!?!?!
Have an aroma-filled day,
CH
