It's Girl Scout Cookie time, soon it will be Spring Sharathon, Youth Wrapping paper buying time, and don't forget Jump Rope for Heart, candy for the choir/band trip, etc....Fundraising is all around us, and you have probably taken part in your fair share of drives. However, sometimes it just takes looking through the eyes of a child to really get somewhere.
See, if you are looking for an unusual way to raise money for your church or other organization, all you need is a knowledge of eBay and a 5 dollar bill...or at least that's the path of 7 year old Landon from North Carolina.
Landon put a $5 bill on eBay auction block-- so that proceeds from the sale will help his congregation build a new church! Currently, the members are worshipping in a YMCA, and they would like to branch out on their own. So, Landon is doing his part.
The little entrepreneur already thinks the auction is going to be a big success as he said, "If people out there are willing to pay tons of money for a grilled-cheese sandwich with an outline of Jesus on it, surely someone would like to buy my $5 bill to help us build a church."
So far, the bid is up to $150 and the auction runs through Friday.
Go, Landon, Go!

PS- Seems like a modern version of the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30)

Shop Til You Drop
Yesterday, Meredith and I went to do some maternity clothes shopping, and as we were coming out of the mall, these two ladies were walking to their car. I had just opened the door for Meredith and was walking around the car to get in when I overheard their conversation.
One of them said, "It's just the true spirit of shopping! I mean, if I find something that I really like and want, I don't really look at the price on it. I just pay whatever for it. But I guess, that''s not a healthy habit to have is it, Mom."
All I could do was crack a smile, stifle my laughter and hop in the car, because my shopping style is so different. I just hope it wasn't her moms credit card. If it was....um....two words come to mind,
"You're Grounded."

My Tube
It seems that my wife and I didn't watch much TV at all. Now, were finding ourselves catching all these shows. And we had a major dilemma on Sunday as there was the Grease competiton, the Amazing Race, the Apprentice, then the news or ( a staple for us) Without a Trace....that 's all of four hours oin front of the TV!!!
And what's even more...is now, we're going to have to decide what we're going to do as Dancing With the Stars returns March 19 -- Now, I wasn't so into it last time...although seeing Emmitt Smith win was cool. However, this time, it will feature
•Billy Ray Cyrus
•Former /Entertainment Tonight /co-host Leeza Gibbons
•Apolo Ono the two-time Olympic gold medalist in short-track skating.
•Ian Ziering, you might remember from Beverly Hills 90210 (Immediate Favorite of the teens and tweens of the 90s)!!
I really need an eliptical machine in my house,
