Baby Blues

My wife, Meredith, and I planned a quick vacation before our son, Jay, arrived. When we asked the doctor if that was okay to "go away" for a day or two, he wasn't necessarily keen on the idea, because labor can happen anywere....and I mean ANYWHERE...

Antoria Gillon's American Idol audition was interrupted yesterday when she went into labor!!!

Antoria wasn't due to give birth until today, so she thought it was safe to wait in line at Texas Stadium, starting at 2:30 a.m. , for her try-out.

Of course after waiting for 16 hours, she got her chance to sing, and ...

"I felt something over my body when I was singing, and I knew right away what it was. The judge stopped and asked if I was OK, and I said, 'I just want to finish my song.' "

Enduring intense contractions, she finished singing, got the familiar sheet of yellow paper and only then climbed into the ambulance.

She then welcomed a baby boy into the world...The baby's name: Jamil Labarron Idol McCowan.

She must've been singing some major baby blues for that to happen...and she made it to the next round. WOW!

You know what I'm DYING to know? How a woman, who was 40 weeks pregnant, was capable of waiting in line for 16 hours. Even if she had lots and lots of water and a chair to sit in, it's still unfathomable to me. No wonder she went into labor!
