It's Girl Scout Cookie time, soon it will be Spring Sharathon, Youth Wrapping paper buying time, and don't forget Jump Rope for Heart, candy for the choir/band trip, etc....Fundraising is all around us, and you have probably taken part in your fair share of drives. However, sometimes it just takes looking through the eyes of a child to really get somewhere.
See, if you are looking for an unusual way to raise money for your church or other organization, all you need is a knowledge of eBay and a 5 dollar bill...or at least that's the path of 7 year old Landon from North Carolina.
Landon put a $5 bill on eBay auction block-- so that proceeds from the sale will help his congregation build a new church! Currently, the members are worshipping in a YMCA, and they would like to branch out on their own. So, Landon is doing his part.
The little entrepreneur already thinks the auction is going to be a big success as he said, "If people out there are willing to pay tons of money for a grilled-cheese sandwich with an outline of Jesus on it, surely someone would like to buy my $5 bill to help us build a church."
So far, the bid is up to $150 and the auction runs through Friday.
Go, Landon, Go!

PS- Seems like a modern version of the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25:14-30)
