This past weekend was absolutely packed for the Harper family. Meredith, my wife, and I welcomed in our Moms from out of town as we made it a full weekend...
We went to help the Kidney Foundation at Chocolate Fest...remind me next year to bring a huge Tupperware container. WOW! I don't think I've seen so much chocolate in my life. It was awesome, and the neat thing was that it went to a good cause. (Not Weight Watchers Friendly.)
We travelled to several restaurants....I'll give them quick plugs...Scratch Bakery (Unaka and Roan,) Alta Cucina (Roan St,) and Sahib Indian Restaurant (Browns Mill Road.) Kudos to everyone...you fed us very well. As a matter of fact, we went to Sahib twice over the weekend. Once for dinner, the other, for lunch buffet. LOL!! You could say we liked it.
We also went to two shows: Jonesborough Repertory Theatre's Smokey Joe's Cafe' and Johnson City Community Theatre's Nunsense Jamboree...Both of which, we really enjoyed! Yay to everyone in their performances! ( It's wonderful to call you friends.) Entertainment was at its best in these Not-quite-so-easy shows.
So, now that our bank accounts are completely drained :) The reason that our Moms came to the Tri-Cities this weekend, was not only for the weekend of wonderful fun, but what happened on President's Day. And I don't mean the sales events at the mall.
Meredith and I went to the doctor yesterday for our 20 week Ultrasound!!!! :) :) :) :) We are expecting our first child in July...actually the due date is fun and unforgettable... 7/7/07.
It was amazing to see our child on the screen...It's hard to describe the emotions that run through your veins as you watch your first child...thanks technology....and we are trying to be ole fashioned and not find out what the baby is. As a matter of fact, it was hilarious yesterday...the nurses were VERY respectful of our wishes, but really peaked our curiosity. The Ultrasound Technician said, "You sure you don't want to know?" with a big smile on her face. Then, as Meredith was waiting on some lab work, another nurse said to us, "I hear you don't want to know. There aren't many couples who want to make it a surprise. Sure, you don't to know?" It took a lot to keep ourselves from saying, "Okay...tell us." But we didn't crack. So, the secret is safe with the doctors and nurses. LOL!
For now, we covet your prayers that the baby (Baby Harper) continues to grow, be healthy, and that we will learn quickly the ways of parenthood....and that we get our house ready :)
Blessings,
CH
